It's Shark Week, and we are ready to celebrate these fascinating creatures! We thought we'd bring some fun to the water with some new shirt designs featuring sharks you don't want to meet in the big blue sea. Read on as we share some facts about six of the most interesting sharks, including the one you wouldn't believe was real!
The Great White Shark is considered the most dangerous shark species out there, but only because they have been portrayed that way in movies and through media. The fact is, they're actually more curious than anything else and don't hunt humans because we don't taste good; they would much rather go after something fatty like seals.
Great Whites are at the top of their food chain, but they can be vulnerable to other predators. Orcas, aka Killer whales, have been known to hunt these sharks on occasion, and humans not only actively pursue Great Whites, but our pollution is destroying their ocean home.

2. Hammerhead Sharks
Hammerheads are the most recognizable of all sharks because they have an unusual head shape that looks like a hammer. Hammerheads primarily feed on prey from the seafloor, such as stingrays, fish, crabs, octopus and squid, and occasionally other sharks.

While named after the stripes on their sides, Tiger Shark pups start with spots that fuse into stripes. As they continue to grow, the stripes fade and are barely visible when full-grown. Considered an opportunistic eater, the Tiger Shark is known to eat just about anything, including turtles, seabirds, dolphins, other sharks, and a wide variety of man-made objects.

4. Mako Shark
The mako shark is one of the fastest creatures in the ocean. Sharks are known for their excellent swimming abilities, but this animal can swim up to 35 miles an hour. This shark's diet is very diverse, and they enjoy eating tuna, dolphins, squids, mackerels, sea turtles, and other sharks. Mako Sharks have an incredible leaping ability and can be observed jumping to extreme heights when hunting, sometimes right into a fisherman's boat!

5. Whale Shark
The Whale Shark is the largest known fish species in length and weight, reaching 45 feet in length. This shark has been named the "gentle giant" because it poses no threat to humans whatsoever. Its diet consists mainly of plankton, so it favors warm oceans with high levels of productivity where there are lots of tiny organisms hanging around in the water column that make good food for whale sharks.

6. Goblin Shark
The goblin shark is the number one animal that people will not believe exists. They look like a creature straight out of Jurassic Park. These sharks have to be studied through pictures and videos since it is virtually impossible to catch them with nets or fishing gear, which makes researchers wonder how many there are left in the oceans!
