It’s no secret that cats love to sunbathe. Even on the hottest days of summer, cat owners often find their kitties lounging in the sun trying to soak up as much warmth as possible. Unfortunately, cats are prone to overheating and aren’t able to cool themselves as easily as we can. To avoid heat exhaustion, cats require access to shaded, well-ventilated areas with access to clean water. But if your cat is stubborn and won’t stay out of the sun, there are other ways you can help keep them cool. Check out our top 4 frozen cat treats for summer that are both tasty and refreshing for your feline friend.

Can My Cat Eat Yogurt?
While cats lack the lactase enzyme that breaks down lactose, a type of sugar found in milk, many cats are able to tolerate yogurt. Yogurt makes a solid base for frozen cat treats, but if your cat doesn’t tolerate dairy that well there are still plenty of alternatives to make them tasty treats. You can always use water, broth, or organic goats milk as your base and throw in cat-friendly add-ins to your cats liking. If your cat does like the taste of yogurt, however, make sure you use a brand that doesn’t contain artificial additives and isn’t overly sweetened. And keep an eye out for Xylitol, a natural chemical that’s often added to food products to make them more palatable for us humans but is highly toxic to cats.
